Background

Aktreum Building Designers reached out to me with the goal of a complete redesign of their WordPress site. It was in a state of disarray, with major user experience issues, missing critical information and no SEO in place.

My services included a Figma interactive prototype, development of the new WordPress theme, SEO optimization and integration with their current site. I delved into custom theme functionality using PHP, editing their host files for deep debugging, and improving my knowledge of WordPress theme development along the way.

1. SEO was unoptimized and was being ranked lower in search results as a consequence
2. Yellow page sites were higher in ranking than their main portfolio site
3. The overall design was lacking and required a complete redesign
4. Posts lacked structure and broke easily
5. Site navigation needed to be reworked, to accommodate user needs and keep posts organized
6. Didn't show their specializations and broad range of work
7. No customer testimonies were present
8. Comment were included in every page
9. reCAPTCHA visable on every page
10. Images were not SEO optimized

Solutions Implemented

To showcase Aktreum Building Designer's full potential, the site redesign utilised minimalist ideals to bring total focus onto his projects. The site pages were kept to the basics of who they are, what they can do, and how to reach them.

The site tags allow users to fully explore his 15+ years of portfolio work and find what is most relevant to them. With links to yellow page sites, users could also see other customer testimonies. SEO optimisations were implemented site wide as the development progressed. Images and posts were given a simple system for Aktreum's team to use. Streamlining the process and ensuring well optimised uploads in future.

Additional Features

Some additions to Aktreum’s site include a simple dropdown menu included in the nav bar. Integrating the project tag pages for quick navigation through his portfolio of work, and a recent projects list. Also added is a dedicated contact page, with invisible captcha/anti-spam precautions in place.
